Current performance Vs Performance prediction 2018/2019 in new team

In Olocip we have analyzed the new stage of Kevin-Prince Boateng in FC Barcelona and to find out we have used our TCT-Scout solution, which allows us to know the prediction of future performance of the player in a contextualized way, ie, placing Boateng in his new scenario, including the new league, team and teammates with whom he will share costumes.

In this first round of La Liga, Barcelona has 46 points (eight less than in the previous season). However, this huge difference in points is not reflected in the goals scored (56 goals in 20 matches, just one less than in the previous campaign), but in the goals conceded (12 more than in 2017-2018). After the incorporation of Murillo for the defensive rearguard, Ernesto Valverde asked the management for an attacker to replace the absence of Munir who signed for Sevilla in early January. After shuffling several well-known names, such as Fernando Llorente and Carlos Vela among others, finally the chosen was Kevin-Prince Boateng, a face more than known in Spain.

Boateng has never been known for being a scorer. In fact, his average number of goals before reaching U.D Las Palmas was four per season. At the age of 29, when his sporting retirement seemed to be approaching, he had the opportunity to play in Spain. It was in Gran Canaria, where the striker showed his effectiveness face to face: 10 goals in 2,000 minutes, thus counting on an average of 0.42 goals per game. His good season did not go unnoticed and he left the yellow team, arguing personal reasons, to sign for Eintracht Frankfurt.

In Germany, his performance fell back to the offensive aspect: six goals in 2,361 minutes (31 games). Same goals he has scored for Sassuolo, but in just 13 games, his performance has gone from strength to strength after that high point in Las Palmas.

FC Barcelona’s surprising offer made it possible for the Italian club to let him out on loan in winter. This unexpected signing brings with it a series of unknowns: Will he get a similar number of goals as in Las Palmas? Will he show a better version than in 2010 Milan? Who would be his perfect replacement for Barça in case of injury?

Smaller score, but more involvement in defense.

Once carried out the corresponding study, we can verify that the new signing will increase its defensive performances in Barcelona, improving its records in sections such as ball recoveries and interceptions. On the other hand, he will diminish his performance for the goal with respect to his previous stages in the U.D Las Palmas (2016-2017) and the Eintracht Frankfurt (2017-2018). In Barça will record a goal every 500 minutes of play, approximately, while in Las Palmas achieved in 200 minutes.

In the graph below, we can see the prediction of player performance at FC Barcelona for the 2018-2019 season and the main differences compared to their performance last season in Germany.

Better statistics than in the mythical Milan of Allegri

Without a doubt, the most important championship he has achieved throughout his career has been Serie A with Milan. It was in the 2010-2011 season with Allegri as coach and along with legendary players such as Ibrahimovic, Seedorf, Pirlo and a Robinho who scored 14 goals. The importance of that achievement lay in the fact that it had been six years since the Rossoneri club had managed to lift this championship. Milan were the last team to snatch Serie A from Juventus as in the last seven years, the ‘Vecchia Signora’ has had no rival in Italy. In the 20 games they played, they scored just three goals. The curiosity is that in those games Milan ended up beating Brescia, Bologna and Naples 3-0 and a small sector nicknamed him as ‘talisman’. Valuing the progression of the footballer in his different campaigns is evident that he loses offensive success, but stands as a more lethal player in the defensive plot.

Now 31 years old, he will improve his general statistics in Barcelona compared to the mythical Milan, but his level in the offensive aspect will be very far from that seen in Gran Canaria, Frankfurt and Sassuolo.

Renato Steffen, the ideal substitute

Wolfsburg’s Renato Steffen has very similar qualities if he plays for FC Barcelona to those offered by Boateng.

Tct Scout and the search function of similar players, suggests that Steffen would be the most suitable footballer to replace the work of the new signing of Barcelona in case of a hypothetical injury, considering variables such as shots, goals, duels or assists among others.

Thus the graph shows the performance that Renato offers in Barça compared to its current level in Wolfsburg.

Another footballer who approaches him in terms of similarities is the former Villarreal player Roberto Soriano who is currently in Italian Bologna.
